Hillary Clinton’s running mate Tim Kaine chats with Gay Star News #Gay News # moreNewsAt @gaystarnews

2016 Democratic Vice Presidential nominee Tim Kaine was among those slamming Donald Trump at HRC gala.

US Senator Tim Kaine was the center of attention at the Human Rights Campaign gala in Los Angeles where he was the keynote speaker.

Instead of appearing as a disappointed and defeated vice presidential candidate, only honoree Katy Perry created more buzz at the event over the weekend.

Kaine and wife Anne Holton were surrounded by well-wishers outside the ballroom at the JW Marriott LA Live including actress Lena Dunham who spoke intensely to the 2016 vice presidential nominee for several minutes.

Kaine, a former governor of Virginia, soon made his way over to Gay Star News for a brief chat about the current mood of the country under the administration of President Donald Trump.

‘A lot of people are nervous and worried right now,’ Kaine said.

He explained why he made the time to attend the gala to support HRC – the largest LGBTI civil rights advocacy group and political lobbying organization in the US.

‘People need to have both individuals and organizations that have their back and HRC does it,’ he said.

‘And we’re here to say thanks. It’s really good to be here.’

The loss he and Hillary Clinton suffered to Trump and Mike Pence was obviously a blow. He did 985 events in more than 40 states during the closely-fought campaign.

Despite the loss, Kaine was back in the Senate a week later introducing a bill about anti-semitism.

‘I don’t have trouble finding my motivation every day,’ he said.

‘I just get up and I go to work early because whether it’s saving health care for tens of millions of people or making sure we don’t roll back critical commitments to equality. That’s why I go to work.’
